To My Son

Oscar Dan Li

My dear Oscar,

I don’t know when you will read this, or if these words will ever reach you.

But I want you to know one simple truth:

I never stopped being your mother.

There are many things in this world that you may be told, and many things you may not understand yet.

Time will pass. You will grow. One day, you will ask your own questions.

When that day comes, I hope you will look not only at what others said, but also at what is true.

I am still here.

I am still waiting.

And no matter how much time passes, you are still my son.

Nothing can change that.
